My Expertise

I have worked within 911 Public Safety for 22 years. I love to teach and have taught across numerous platforms including APCO, NENA, 911der Woman, the Denise Amber Lee Foundation, and more. I am currently the President for Idaho APCO/NENA, the 911der Women Virtual Education Coordinator, and a 911 Public Safety Communications Manager at the largest PSAP in Idaho. The largest group I ever taught in front of was a keynote presentation with over 3,500 attendees. One of my most meaningful projects was the creation of the Zero Suicide Kits initiative within Public Safety, resulting in more than 2,000 kits created so far for communities across the nation. Among my proudest speaking engagements was addressing an event attended by multi-million-dollar investors and former FCC Chairmen who had worked alongside U.S. Presidents, which was focused on fundraising for the future of 911 technology development.

The Vision

I truly believe in what I do, and my north star has been and always will be to help as many people I can for as long as I can. Empowering others spreads that. One of my most special awards, was a life saving award I won in 2021 for the state for helping a suicidal man remember his worth and helping him choose to live after an hour ordeal on the phone.

At Dawn Shumway Solutions, I leverage my extensive experience in 911 operations, quality assurance, and standards development and implementation, along with the strong partnerships I’ve built across agencies, industry partners, and those with international organizations to help lift agencies seeking improvement.
